Meet Pastor Whyte

     Reverend James E. Whyte is the esteemed pastor of Truth Baptist Church. He was called by God and installed as pastor on March 29, 2009. Under his leadership, the membership as grown in number as well as in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.


        Rev. Whyte is a motivated minister of God's word. He enjoys spreading the gospel and making disciples of all men.  Rev. Whyte served faithfully for many years at Union Baptist Temple in Bridgeton, New Jersey under the leadership of his pastor, Reverend Albert Morgan. While at Union, he and his lovely wife Denise served as conveners for the Couples Ministry for fifteen years. He also served as Assistant Convener of the Men's Ministry and the Sports Ministry.


        He is trained to teach God's word under the anointing and guidance of the Holy Spirit. While at Union Temple, he was the Couples Ministry Bible Study teacher, the Adult and Children's New Members Class teacher, the Men's Retreat teacher, the Leadership Training teacher, and the Strength at Noonday Bible Study teacher. Since coming to Truth Baptist, the Wednesday night bible study has grown. The members are experiencing new levels of spiritual growth.

        Rev. Whyte graduated Salutatorian from Philadelphia Bible College with a certificate in Biblical Studies. He is also a 2009 graduate of the Bethany Baptist School of Ordination and has completed the Pastoring with a Purpose class taught by Dr. Willie Richardson of the Christian Stronghold Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.


        He was a Purchasing Manager at Clement Pappas and Company, where he worked for 27 years.  Rev Whyte retired from secular employ in 2017.  A graduate of Bridgeton High School in Bridgeton, New Jersey, Rev. Whyte continued his education and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry/Biology at Widener University in 1976.  He also received a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Phoenix in 2000.


        A devoted family man, he is the husband of Denise Whyte. They are the parents of five children and grandparents of twelve grandchildren.


        Rev. Whyte is a proven ministry leader who has a heart for God's people. His life scripture, Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Chirst who strengthens me", has geared his life towards leading and motivating saints to achieve their full potential in Christ.
